    hotel bookings
Do I need to book hotels in advance? There seem to be quite a few places with no space left for September 2018. That seems to be booking awfully early. Is it common to completely run out of space? Should I book a few choice spots now and then assume that it's no problem finding smaller places for the rest of the nights? Is it problematic finding places day by day as you hike?

If you are booking September 2018 you are probably too far out. If you are trying to book online they are probably just not showing availability Smaller hotels do book up fast but not this early If you send me some specifics I will see what I can do .

I do think properties can book up, especially those in the mountains. As said, it may be too early, but there are lots of great places to use as a home base and then do hikes so you don't have to worry about your luggage. I've had many hiking clients. Contact me if interested as I would be glad to help create something special. Warm regards, Anna

    transport luggage
I plan to hike for two weeks in August-September 2018 in Switzerland. Lucerne to Kandersteg or similar route. How do I arrange to have my luggage transported from town to town? I don't plan to use a guided tour operator. I would appreciate any help you could give me.

Hi, We are visiting Switzerland by the end of this month and have a question regarding the Bernina Express booking/schedule. We are planning to cover Bernina Express tour within a day. We are starting from Zurich and after taking train upto Chur we are planning to board Bernina Express upto St. Moritz and then back to Chur. From Chur we are planning to take another train back to Zurich. My question is; if it's possible to cover this within a day? I tried to check Bernina Express Fact Sheet of Rail Europe but couldn't understand the schedule that can work. If possible; could you please guide me on this? Thanking you in advance for your time and inputs. Kind Regards, PK

    getting to Gimmelwald
I see I can fly into Basel cheaper than Zurich. (coming from Venice). It looks like the train goes right out of the Zurich airport, and for Basel I have to take a bus over to the SBB station. Anyway, wonder if apart from that it's just a big hassle going out of Basel. Also, if it's better just to buy the train ticket here and get the half-price ticket, contact me and I'll do it through you as an agent if you like.

At the Geneva airport. If you want to go to the Geneva Airport it is the same train just takes 11 minutes longer. There is more than one train per hour for Lucerne to Geneva but they have connection trains it is not a direct route.

Mr. Miller, You may find information for all Swiss trains at for which you will just need to look for links to see exactly what you wish to purchase. Trains from Luzern to Geneva leave on the hour (Swiss trains are very punctual and they will leave on the hour) and you will not need to change for this journey. No reservations are necessary for second class (the least expensive way to travel and it is comfortable). Let me know if you have any questions. Andrew/ITS Tours //

Good morning, There are several areas to choose from in Switzerland. Early December is a nice time as costs are still a bit lower and snow normally is already pretty good in the higher elevations. I would suggest one of the mountain resort towns which are car-less. Please send me an e-mail with a bit more specifics and I will let you know what I can do to make your trip possible. Andrew/ITS Tours //
