    Grand Train Tour
I checked on the website for the cost of a Grand Train Tour for two in September and want to pursue it further. Is there any literature you can send about it? Also, how much extra are train reservations for the Express trains?

We are a group of 10 visiting Switzerland in mid October for 3-4 days. We are staying in Lauterbrunnen and are planning day trips to Jungfraujoch, the Schilthorn, Trummelbach falls, and Interlacken. My question is - What is the most interesting and most cost effective way to visit these sites. Thank you in advance for your help.

You will want to use the local trains and can purchase tickets from any of the stations. We were in recently in Switzerland and stayed in Grindelwald where you take the cog train up to Jungfrau (Top of Europe) and you will not experience a better time than in Jungfrau. You will need a full day in Grindelwald to see and experience the train trip to the top of the mountains, cable car rides, etc.

By rail cogwheels and funiculars. A Swiss Travel Pass will allow you to travel at your convenience at no charge and give you a discount on the private owned trains and panoramic trains. Right now there is a Swiss Travel Pass free day promo. I can send you a Swiss Travel Packet. Email me your address to I can also give you the specifics of how to get from lauterbrunnen to Wengen Murren Grindewald and the Jungfraujoch. Also send me your dates of travel. Hello Patrick, since all of the rail systems are private you might look in to a Jungfrau Travel pass that is valid for 4days, I haven't checked on the price lately but it is around $253.00 USD is for 4 consecutive days on the entire Jungfrau Railway and takes you to the Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn and included Interlaken Ost, Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Kleine Scheidess or Lauterbrunnen. send me your email address to and I will be glad to help you.

Is there a pass that has 3 days of unlimited travel and 50% discount on travel for other days? I believe it used to be called a flexi-pass, but can't seem to find it now.

      5/16/2017 1:16:20 PM
You are correct it is very hard to find and they do not have the half fare combi anymore. If you have a Swiss Travel Pass you can use a day of that pass as your flex pass. Right now there is a special where you purchase 4 days consecutive travel and you get 2 free days. Send me your dates to and I will send you some specific information. I can also send you a Swiss Travel map and some other very helpful information on traveling in Switzerland. Are you interested in biking or hiking I also have some information on that. Email me your mailing address

Thank you. This is my 20th trip to Switzerland and I thought I knew all the variations of passes, but it looks like there have been some changes. Have seen some of the specials, but will have to work out what works best for me. Probably just a half-fare card and then individual tickets, Thanks again.

    Switzerland Travel
I am interested in travelling to Switzerland, alone. I prefer direct flights from any of the 3 Washington DC airports (DCA, IAD, or BWI). I would like to get the best price, and I might consider First Class, as the flights tend to be overnight, and I am too tall to put my head back on a coach seat. I might be interested in some hiking tours. Would like somewhat flexible itinerary and cancellable if possible, for about 1 week or a little more. I am 66 years old, and last visited Switzerland in 1965. I have been to Swiss Embassy in Washington DC several times for public programs several years ago. Thanks.

    Swiss Travel Pass
I will be bringing about 20 peoplw to Switzerland in September for about 15 days and we want to travel about with a 15 day Swiss Travel Pass. What kind of discounts are available with this pass for private mountain railways and cable cars? Also, the price if a 15 day pass for seniors seems to be MORE than for those in their 50's. Why is that?
    • Candy Root
      5/1/2017 2:11:20 PM
It is generally 50% discount on most of the cog wheels and funiculars. The panoramic trains the discount is significantly more than 50 % with the Swiss Travel Pass and Swiss regional trains are free with the pass Senior prices start at age 59 If you will email me with your dates I can get you specific prices and schedule information. I can also send you a swiss travel package that includes a good Swiss Travel Map I look forward to hearing from you.

To clarify adult rates end at age 59 and Senior prices start at 60

Mr. Andrews, Please let me know which trains in particular you are interested in taking and I will be able to give you an idea of the discount for it. There are quite a few to choose from. If you have any questions about which perhaps to take, I may be able to help. Does your group have a particular interest? That may help also to narrow down the choice. There are discounts for trains that are considered mountain railways (Jungfrau Bahn, for example). There are discounts also for some of the cable car trips (Schilthorn - I actually was up to the Schilthorn today and am currently in Murren). Also, we work with groups for hotels, buses, sightseeing, etc. Perhaps we could assist in some of the items you need to put together your tour. Also, it is true that the some tickets prices are the same for seniors as for regular adults but there are discounts for those over 59 for Swiss Travel Passes. So, let me know how specifically I can help and I will do so. Andrew/ITS Tours // Andrew.ITSTours // College Station, TX)

we will be stopping in Zurich for a day in June. Is there a place to store luggage for the day, preferably the train station.
    • Andrew Loehrer

Mr. Hunt, Yes, there are secure lockers at the main Zurich rail station. There will be a usage fee but they are secure. You may inquire at the rail information booth for further information and exact cost. Let me know if you need anything else. Andrew/ITS Tours --
