Hi Ryan, I see you are getting lots of options to work with some great agents, we are all Jamaica Specialists on this site so you will be in good hands with whoever you go with. like most of my clients you probably like to do a bit of searching yourself as well, so here are a few tips... beginning to mid December have really decent prices, best beaches are in Negril, if you are looking for nightlife stay close to Ocho Rios - MARGARITAVILLE is FUN !!! if I can help further please let me know at hope you have a great holiday
    • Shemaine Rohrbach
      8/2/2017 6:12:24 PM
Amber is absolutely right. All on this forum are Specialists and we all get the same pricing. Memories Travel doesn't charge a service fee. Some agencies do and rightfully so since all our input and expertise is priceless. Amber also gave you good direction as to the location. If you really want to get away from it all the South side is beautiful as well. If you have a price point we can let you know what your options are. I personally love the Ocho area because I love to learn something and have lots of experiences while I'm on vacation. I also enjoy adults only resorts if I am traveling with my honey only and not the grandkids or friends with kids. I have a home office and you can reach my 24/7. I am on Eastern Standard time however:) I would love to talk to you. 610-351-2691 or

    Understanding the Forum
Just a question from this newbie. I see many travel agents responding with nothing more than their contact information. Is this what the forum is meant to be? I assumed that it could be used to share information with each other. Would it be wrong of me to do that? Am I stepping on toes by offering information without necessarily trying to secure customers?
    • Shemaine Rohrbach
      8/1/2017 9:41:35 AM
Information is always welcome. I am a newbie myself. It is a forum and should be not an opportunity to sell ourselves. It is to be social and have those interested in what we have to offer contact us themselves if they like what hear and see on this site.
    • Kathleen Pyke
      8/1/2017 9:54:44 AM
Thank you Shemaine. I have lots of information that I wanted to offer to certain questions but I wasn't sure if I would be doing something wrong in doing so.
    • Dolores Strait
      8/1/2017 10:08:38 AM
My take on what the tribe should be is to share information and experiences and in some cased recommendations of good suppliers or contact people who have helped in the past. There used to be a similar forum a few years ago but the organizer retired. Sharing information helps us all.
    • Kathleen Pyke
      8/1/2017 10:15:07 AM
My thoughts exactly Dolores, and thank you. Before I started handing out "free" information, I wanted to be sure that I was not breaking any rules. It is great if we can turn contacts into business customers, but I think by offering a bit of advice and tips, is a much better way to connect instead of simply providing your email in hopes of selling yourself. I understand some people may prefer to communicate privately but that takes away the concept of a forum.
    • Richard Ghazarian
      8/1/2017 10:15:47 AM
Kathleen - sharing is what I believe this forum is all about as well as responding to requests from leads.
    • Kathy Davis-Muhammad
      8/1/2017 10:53:48 AM
Yes share information. That benefits us all. If anyone is interested in a particular agent, they can contact us.

      8/1/2017 11:24:47 AM
Sharing and discussion is great. I welcome it. In fact, I'm bringing a large group to Jamaica in July 2018 (adults,) and trying to decide on the best option. Value (Riu) vs. Quality (Secrets). I know it's two different ends of the spectrum. The group is used to a Riu property but we just took them to the Valentin and Mexico and they appreciate it the five star treatment. However the Riu comps are so much better. Any suggestions?
    • Shemaine Rohrbach
      8/1/2017 11:42:12 AM
Why not present both. Make sure you include the Highest room category for the Riu as the price. I would do that and then let them compare it with the different options for the Secrets. If food is important of course the Secrets.

      8/1/2017 11:44:26 AM
GM, I am not avoiding the tribe. When I opened my mail and I saw the offer believe it, or not I took it as an Omen, Why? You might as yourself. Well, I just recently returned back from Montego Bay, I was dwelling there in a beautiful community 21 miles SW of Mobay called Florence Hall. I love Jamaica the atmosphere, the vibes, the people my people welcomed me with opened arms. My dream is open my travel business there one day really soon.. I have so much too share I am connected to the Island in more ways than one my fiancee is from Kingston, and we plan to wed in November.
    • Vilma Cobb
      8/1/2017 11:45:33 AM
no you are not stepping on toes the more information you offer gives the prospective client a better idea of what to expect

Patty yes!! I love Jamaica too, its incredible for all reasons you stated, including the food. Yes I never have had a bad experience in Jamaica. Shermaine, I'm the promoter, so I just have to make a decision and go with it. Patty I want to do a private beach party, have a bus pick up everyone from the resort go to the beach with DJ food and drinks. I'm bringing the DJ. Any suggestions on setting this up?

Hi Patty. I have stayed at Florence Hall as well! Beautiful neighborhood indeed! I have also stayed in Stonebrook which is nearby Florence Hall. I actually continue to stay In Falmouth when I am in Jamaica as this is the area my fiance lives in. If Jamaica becomes a place that you visit regularly, I recommend getting off the resorts and renting a guest home or villa instead. This is the best way to truly experience the real Jamaica!

As all have mentioned, Negril has the 7 mile beach which is the nicest in Jamaica. There are so many other things that Jamaica has to offer and the location you pick should be where you will like to spend most of your time.

Montego Bay. Beautiful water and not too far from air port.

    • Trenae Watson

    • Teri Smith
      9/6/2017 10:51:22 AM
We love South Coast. The beach is long, and you can also walk out of the resorts boundaries along the beach for quite a distance, and it is white sand and beautiful, clear water. And the beach is also just the people who are staying at South Coast.
