    Elderly Couple
Hi, I am looking for a boutique resort that will accommodate an elderly couple. One uses a walker but would like to rent a scooter to get around. I think a smaller boutique resort would be a good option for them. They don't necessarily need an ADA room as he can get around that way just can't walk long distance and would still like to enjoy the beach. Thanks!

how about the new Zoetry Resort? If they are looking for something a bit less expensive, the Jewel Dunns River is pretty compact.

I have many close connections there as well and have stayed and toured at several resorts. I have a few ideas that would be great for them if you'd like to reach out to me. I also have a private driver that can assist them with their baggage and door to door transportation, as well as advising them of the benefit of Club MoBay. Please let me know if I can be of service.

Hi Julie. I'm on the ground in Jamaica and could book their full service transfer and hotel based on their preference for Montego Bay, Ocho Rios or Negril. I will also double-check on the scooter availability as there are only a few providers of the service. If there are other attendant medical issues that may need attention we have Nurses and Physicians on-call to assist. Let me know if I can help.

Sandals are always a good option. Many accessible rooms and medical staff on hand as well. Royal Caribbean or. Montego Bay are both great options. Let me know if you would like a quote. 3153720452

      11/3/2017 7:44:46 PM
Hello Julie, there's so many options to choose from that it really depends on their preferences. For eg. How much is their budget? Do they want to stay near the airport (in Kingston or Montego Bay)? Do they want all inclusive, villa, EP, etc.? For boutique accommodations, I usually prefer villas if the couple needs privacy and just want a relaxing getaway. I also like the island outpost properties. Zoetry Montego Bay is also a great choice, they have only 49 suites! Sandals Royal Plantation is also great. I could give you more options, but would need to get some more information as it relates to their expectations, that way I can be certain their needs are being met. Please reach out to me if you need further help! One love, Cameil.

      11/3/2017 11:05:04 AM
Firstly I think you have chosen a very good destination as Jamaica is one of the few islands that will give you all or a bit of every type of activity. Then of course the most important question I would have to ask is the Budget. Without that information and never having had a physical discussion I am guessing at what you would like and I could only go by what is popular or what I feel is likiable for a 12, 18 and 20 year old. As I can tell you that you can make or brake the family vacation if not all the needs are met. I think that if budget is not the main concern there is only one Property that would be a fit for the entire family and that is Beaches. Including flight we purchase from a Tour Operator or do the flight as a separate transaction. Generally it is cost effective if you have the flight in the package this will of course depend on where you are departing from as all cities are not included in all packages. As an adult you have gourmet food, but yet you can have pizza, hot dogs and burgers as well as an ice cream cone in your fav flavour. You have activities that will bring the kid out in you as well as your 12, 18 and 20 year old. It is a resort that most certainly is an ALL INCLUSIVE there is not ever the, saying, "that is extra"! the only time that there is an extra charge is when you leave the property, for an excursion, (worth it however) and for any Spa treatments. I can go on and on. The alternative to that of course is a larger hotel also featuring the All Inclusive stay, I say larger as there will be more options for the different agents that you need to satisfy as well as yourself. Of course it is not gourmet in the same sense and your alcohol will not be name brand in all cases and my favourite which is Champagne will be an extra yet the right one can most certainly put a smile on all the faces at breakfast. So it would be important to me if you let me know what the activities are that your tribe enjoys. Again it is imperative to know the departure city, and so many more questions. However I leave this up to you. Beaches for that time of year you need to look at a minimum of say two thousand per person plus flight cost, whereas the other would be that amount if you are from a departure city that has the flight factored into the total cost per week so you can see although Beaches is something that your 12 year old would never forget as much as you as well it would have to be considered the "Family Christmas Present" and believe me they will love you for it. Along with parades, for the 12 year old your 18 and 20 year old will enjoy the night scene as will you because it is on property and you know that they will be save as they are partying a few buildings away from you. Yet not giving you a thought as they are having a dynamic time. And I know that the Dad loves the wave pool and the very non lazy river more than any of the children. well I can go on and on. Again the other hotel I am now going from Negril to another area of Jamaica will of course feature many aspect as well. The bikinis will be a necessity if yours are girls and if boys well there you are. But all is save and that is what I like for my Parents. An absolutely amazing family holiday that you should make a Habit each year. My telephone number of course is 905-499-2049 (direct line) or my after hour 905-832-1795. My clients have access to me 24hrs. a day. However I encourage them to contact me prior 12Midnight unless an emergency. I also lived in Jamaica for a short time and worked for a company called Cunard, that is now strictly a cruise company and I looked after any VIP clients. It is and will always be one of my favourite spots and one item I should mention if any of your brood has a hobby and they would like to meet a Jamaican counter part that has the same Hobby I can set that up depending of course if you are willing to go to where they are if not too far from the hotel we end up choosing and or the area. Please advise me as soon as you possible can if you have chosen my services. Yes I also charge a service fee of $100. which I deduct from the final payment if you book with our company if you decide not to but have used my services then that is the amount you would pay for my professional time. Thank you for reading this very long reply. I certainly appreciate that you did so. I am what is know for a detail person good but not in an answer like this so forgive me. The Caves rests on the westernmost tip of Jamaica in Negril. All though only a few miles away from the bustling Negril strip, the private enclave of The Caves is a world apart. Ten hand- crafted wood and stone thatch-roofed cottages are interwoven between two acres of lush vegetation and cavernous caves, each with sea views. The Caves is perched above Negril's natural volcanic formed caves overlooking the Caribbean Sea. I'd be glad to assist you with a price quote...joann@gregorytravel.com Joann/Gregory Travel

Before I would recommend a specific resort , I would ask you a few questions, so that the recommendations for you would be more appropriate for your likes and dislikes. There are many great resorts in Jamaica, but there are also great differences in locations, services at resort, entertainment & activities. Some are adults only, some are family oriented, etc. So if you would like to contact me, please feel free to do so, I would appreciate the opportunity to assist you at any time. patti@packntravel.com or feel free to call 215.453.1959, available 7 days a week

I'd be happy to recommend something Sonya. But wouldn't want to generalist. First I'd like to get to know you a bit and know your preferences. Some couples like to 'hide away' so they prefer smaller properties. Some like to be pampered so they like having a butler, their own private Chef and so on. Some are big foodies so they like having access to food 24 hours. Some love entertainment so they want to stay somewhere that's lively and upbeat. So you see, it really depends on your taste. I am happy to help you. Having worked in Jamaica in the tourism industry for over 10 years, I know tonnes! So the recommendations I provide comes from years of experiences. Contact me whenever you're ready :)

    New Agent
Hello Everyone, I'm a new agent and new to Travel Tribe. I absolutely love Jamaica and I've never been. Every picture, article, and webinar that I've been exposed to feeds my soul. My question is how do I sell Jamaica when I have not been able to visit?

I have been there approximately about 5 times or more and I do get more educated and more knowledgeable each time I visit.. I do agree with the other agents that you should take the Jamaica Specialist Course and make plans to visit there for your next trip. Best Wishes to you!
    • Seantay Walker
      10/18/2017 7:10:20 AM
As everyone else has said, be sure to take the Jamaica Specialist training, trainings for resorts, be sure to join webinars that the Jamaica tourist board is own and go on a FAM. Plan you a trip and gooooo! Jamaica is my favorite place in the world! I've lost count of how many times I've been! I normally go at least twice per year.
    • Kathleen Pyke

Agree with everyone who says take all of the training opportunities that are available, however...you MUST go there! You won't know until you go! Once you have visited, the excitement and genuine belief in selling will come through. I have been to Jamaica 7 times and it is by far, my most favorite place on earth!

I am agent for over 20 years and I sell many destinations I have never been to.....research, take courses, trust the reps you work with at tour operators (I love my local GOGO office) , be honest if they ask if you have been there-tell them it is on your list to travel to!
    • Tiffany Greene
      10/18/2017 10:10:10 AM
I have only been an agent for about a year now, but the first training course I made sure I did was the Jamaica Specialist Course. I keep up with the Jamaica Tourist Board and make sure I read their newsletters, and whenever there is an event in my area I make sure I'm there. I just had the chance to join the JTB on a FAM trip to Montego Bay last month, and it was an AMAZING experience as I had also never been to one of the resorts; it was always just a stop on a cruise. Plan your trip ASAP because now I really feel comfortable booking my clients at the resorts because I have actually been there to see them. It really is now one of my favorite destinations!
