Wroclaw (Polish pronunciation: vroclaf). At various times in its history, it is part of the Kingdom of Poland, Bohemia, Hungary (1469-1490), the Austrian Empire, Prussia and Germany; it became part of Poland again in 1945, following boundary changes following the Second World War. Wroclaw stands out as one of the undisputed highlights of Poland, dominated by a river that consists of multiple arms and canals spanned more than 120 bridges and walkways and streets zigzag pavement. Only three European cities can boast of having more bridges. The city was chosen as European Capital of Culture 2016.
