Reykjavik is an ideal way to discover Iceland and explore the main attractions situated around the capital. You will be impressed by how close the most popular attractions are to the city. Reykjavík is Iceland’s largest city and also the most northerly capital in the world. With only approximately four hours of daylight in the wintertime, it has a mysterious yet dynamic atmosphere, while in summer it is bustling and full of energy, with almost 24 hours of daylight! Reykjavik a great place to visit all year round. Whether to experience the pure energy from the boiling thermal underground, the beautiful landscapes or the lively culture and fun-filled nightlife, or maybe just to relax and recharge your batteries. Day 1: Arrival Transfer from Keflavik airport to hotel in Reykjavik (included). Day 2: Reykjavik Sightseeing Tour (optional) - Half-day tour: Blue Lagoon (included in the price) Reykjavik offers a wide range of sights to visit and lots of activities. Expend the morning exploring the capital of Iceland with its number of sights, museums, shopping possibilities, restaurants and cafés. This tour includes the most significant places in the capital and the surrounding towns. Only a few places are listed below. We visit the presidential residence at Bessastaðir as well as Hafnarfjörður, the town where the “hidden people” and humans live together in harmony. There we also visit the old fishing harbor. In Reykjavik we go to the restaurant Perlan, which is built on water tanks that hold the city’s hot water supply. After enjoying the spectacular view over Reykjavík and its surroundings we go to Höfði house where the all-important summit between former U.S. President Ronald Reagan and former U.S.S.R. Secretary General Mikhail Gorbachev took place in 1986. We visit the Hallgrímskirkja church and the old town centre where the Icelandic parliament Alþingi and the town hall are situated. We also show you the sports and recreation area in Laugardalur, with is geothermally heated outdoor swimming pool, and sculptures crafted by Ásmundur Sveinsson. Half-Day Tour The Blue Lagoon (Included in the price) In the afternoon enjoy one of Iceland´s most popular sights The Blue Lagoon for a relaxing swim in the geothermal water. This famous geothermal spa is an amazing sight where you have the possibility to take a relaxing bath in warm water surrounded by mysterious black lava fields. The Blue Lagoon’s warm water and natural active ingredients; mineral salts, silica and blue green algae help you relax and escape the stress and strain of daily life. Bathing in this surreal environment is a unique experience no one should miss. For a unique experience indulge yourself with an outdoor massage or one of the spa treatments available there. On site there is also a fantastic restaurant with a la carte menu and a Blue Lagoon shop, selling skin care products based on a unique blend of Blue Lagoon geothermal ingredients: minerals, silica, and algae. We offer complimentary pick up service from your hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavík. Driving time to the Blue Lagoon takes around 50 minutes. Please note that this is a non-guided excursion. Choose between any of our departures to Reykjavík at 12:00, 15:00, 17:15 and 19:00. Day 3: Day Tour: The Golden Circle (Included in the price) This is a classic excursion which includes some of the most famous and spectacular sights of Iceland. We start by driving to Thingvellir National Park. This is a historical area where the Icelandic Parliament was held for several centuries. It is also consider one of the geological wonders of the world, at Thingvellir you can see the effects of the tectonic plate movements which have opened various cracks and fissures in the earth’s crust, and it was here that the Icelandic Parliament was founded in the 10th century. After taking a walk in the unique landscape of Thingvellir, we continue to the famous geothermal area of Geysir. There the Strokkur hot spring ejects its water column high into the air every 5 – 10 minutes or so and numerous other small springs are boiling and bubbling. Then we only have a short drive to reach Gullfoss, a magnificent waterfall which Icelanders refer to as the “golden” waterfall, surely one of the most beautiful in Iceland.
