A tropical playground to all who visit, the Caribbean is the premier vacation getaway for sun-soaked relaxation and unbridled adventure. Containing over 7,000 islands, reefs and cays, Caribbean travel offers a vibrant international experience full of robust culture, cuisine, history and ecological treasures. Whether digging your toes into the powdery, pink sand of Bermuda’s pristine beaches, snorkeling with sharks and sting rays in the crystal clear waters of Belize or strolling down the cobblestone streets of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean experience is a warmly welcomed escape.

There are two main ways to reach the Caribbean island of your choice: cruise or fly. Most of the major destinations like the Bahamas, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Jamaica all have cruise ports where ships dock and allow vacationers to discover the unique qualities of that island. Though most islands also have airports, some are only served by small, local airlines that do not fly internationally. These feeder airlines will fly to various other Caribbean locations, making it an efficient mode of transportation for island-to-island travel. For direct, international flights, destinations such as the Bahamas; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Dominican Republic; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and St. Lucia can accommodate travelers without having to take multiple flights.

From the cerulean waters that teem with neon explosions of marine life beneath the Caribbean Sea, to the volcanic peaks of Dominica and the European-inspired streets of downtown Curacao, these islands are home to a diverse gathering of verdant natural habitats and urban excitement. When it comes to the Caribbean, there is an island for every type of traveler. For the avid golfer, try one Jamaica’s several world-class championship courses. In recent years, Anguilla is being recognized for its culinary prowess with a diversity of restaurants serving cuisines ranging from Caribbean and Latin, to French and Indian. The budget-minded traveler’s best bet is the Dominican Republic. The majority of the resorts in Punta Cana, Puerto Plata or La Romana are all-inclusive and relatively low cost. The permanent sunshine and golden beaches are on the house.
