England

Located on the southern end of Great Britain, England is the largest country in the United Kingdom, running from the Scottish border to the English Channel. Of course, England’s biggest multicultural cities, London, Birmingham and Leeds garner much attention from tourists, but the true beauty of this region lies within its lush green countryside. Cozy teashops and pubs abound. England’s Cotswold’s region, with its rolling hills, way-marked trails and charming limestone villages, is home to Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford Upon Avon, as well as Oxford and Bath. Don’t forget the mystique of Stonehenge in Amesbury. There are castles, palaces, soaring spires, medieval fortifications and traditional mill buildings in every region.

England has a strong maritime history. There are lighthouses, ancient ports and watercraft from 16th century warships to trans-Atlantic cruise liners edging the coast. Another popular cultural attraction here is the meticulously crafted parks and gardens. Most stately homes, manor houses and historic buildings are surrounded by vast grounds and impeccably maintained gardens and mazes. England travel offers thousands of choices for accommodation that range from farmhouse B&B’s to luxury hotels.
